A week ago we spend our afternoon on our first puppy gathering and all of the Finnish A-litter puppies made it there. Despite the rotten weather we were in a good mood and the puppies had so much fun. We also managed to get new pictures from the puppies, although some really didn't agree on the whole posing thing...
Ella came in season and Riemu was health examined with excellent results: healthy eyes and knees! Hopefully we will do some mating in a few weeks :)

Jarmo Vuorinen had 18 Pharaoh hounds in his ring at Seinäjoki INT yesterday. Ella's arriving season made both our dogs behave a bit unusually but Fenix was 1st in champion class and BM4 with an excellent critique and Ella was 3rd in champion class with excellent. Ella's enthusiasm in the ring is probably best described with the start in champion class bitches today: first with a 50cm vertical jump (upwards) and then onwards with a series of three consecutive leaps. Well it's just so much fun to be in the show ring!!

Fenix run on to a shared second place at Helsinki lure coursin competition with 499 points and his first lure coursing CC. He was also second in the Helsinki kennel distrinct championships. Out of total seventeen Pharaohs in the competition Ella was tenth with 228 points which wasn't enough for a place at the final this time.
Ella's litter plans changed for the male and we were able to use Enigma Seeking Perfection, Riemu, for her. We still intend to keep Qenzo a part of our future plans, thank you Annakarin and Mathias so much for that!

Most of the puppies moved into their new homes yesterday and it seems that the first night has gone well - good luck in your new homes Anuket, Aton, Amy, Hipsu, Diesel and Cleo!

The puppies had their veterinary check up and eye examination on monday and they were all clinically and anatomically healthy and their eyes were healthy as well!

The puppies are now three weeks old and their new families have now been able to finally meet them for the first time. The puppies have opened their eyes, found their legs and started to eat real food bit by bit :)

We have puppies! Ruu gave birth to two strong boys and six healthy girls yesterday and last night. The puppies weighed between 388 grams and 490 grams. Pictures and more info later - super thanks for Jenny and Jessi for their help!

We spent all weekend among the dog hobbies and in good company - on saturday at the Finnish Sighthound specialty the Australian judge Paula Bockman-Schato judged 30 Pharaoh hounds. Only 4 males out of 10 got excellents and Fenix was 3rd in champion class and BM4! Out of 8 champion class bitches 2 got excellents, 2 very goods and 4 goods and Ella was fourth with very good.
On Sunday we had our Farkkushow with 8 puppies, 3 chryptorchist dogs, 18 males and 27 bitches under judge Eli-Marie Klepp from Norway. Fenix renewed his palcement and was 3rd in champion class and BM4. Ella was also 3rd in champion class and BB5. Together Ella and Fenix were also BIS brace!
Thanks for everyone for a wonderful time and special thanks to Marjo and Juha for lending their car when I got into a bit of a jam!

A wonderful lure coursing day behind us with Ella and Fenix! Ella ran in her second competition to the place 4/10 with CQ and total points 484. Fenix did so well in his first competition, he was 5/19 right after Ella with CQ and 481 points. With this score the litter of Fenix and Ruu fill all the breeding recommendations set by The Finnish Pharaoh and Ibizan hound club.

We went to the ultrasound which confirmed that we are waiting for Pharaoh puppies to be born in the middle of July - there were at least seven babies on the way! More info about the litter here.

It's now ovet three weeks from the matings and Ruu has become specially needy for hugs and kisses and also her ever so good appetite has turned a bit - now there can be even leftovers in the bowl... So we hope for the best that we would have puppies on the way and we have an ultra sound booked for next week.

A long show weekend with Ella and Fenix behind us again, this time in the Baltic countries! On Saturday we were in Vilnius for the Lithuanian winner show under Göran Bodegård. Ella was BOB with a super critique gaining also CC, CACIB, the title LTUW-08 and becoming a new LTU champion. Ella also made the group cut among the seven best dogs. Fenix was BM2 with CC and CACIB thus also gaining the title LTUW-08 and becoming a new champion.
On Sunday Rita Kadike-Skadina judged Pharaohs in Riga at the Latvian winner show. Ella was BB2 with CC and CACIB, coming a new Latvian champion. Fenix did well and was BOS with CC and CACIb again gaining the title LVW-08 and a new champion title.
A super thanks to Sanna and her bull terriers for a great company on the road :D

Plans for Ella's litter published! The planned father to the litter is a young promising Swedish male Ezhar Ars Amandi. A huge thanks to Qenzo's breeder owners for this possibility to use him!

Fenix's x-ray results came from the Finnish Kennel club today - hips A/A excellent and elbows 0/0 excellent - great news! :)

We took Fenix to his official health examination today to vet Päivi Vanhapelto with good results: his eyes were healthy, there was a little amount of harmless pigment dots in his right eye front capsule. His knees and heart was healthy. We will have to wait for the official grading of his hips and elbows a while but the estimate was that they were healthy as well :)

Judge Annukka Paloheimo had five Pharaohs in her ring at Tallinn INT yesterday. Fenix was BOS with CC and his first CACIB and also became an Estonian champion. Ella was BB2 with res-CACIB. We took part in the brace competition and the dogs were BOB brace and ended up as BIS4 brace! Once more the travelling company was excelllent and we had a fun trip :)

Tomorrow, Saturday, we'll leave for Tallinn INT with Ella and Fenix and Fenix has a vets appointment for next week for his full health examination.

A great but a long day behind us! We travelled to Keuruu group show to Riitta Lahtovaara's ring where three Pharaohs were present. Fenix was BOB with CC and Ella BOS with CC and so both dogs became new Finnish champions. Fenix had the title AM CH to begin with and as Ella got a CC from Estonia last summer she also became a new EST CH. Fenix made the cut among ten best dogs in the group ring.
Super thanks to Sari for handling our dogs!

We took part in Turku INT show with Ella and Fenix where the Dutch breeder judge Andre van den Broeck had 29 Pharaohs entered to his ring. Ella was again happy as a horse and ended third in open class and Fenix was wondering a bit about the indoor shows and ended up second in open class.

We travelled to Stockholm last weekend for the Nordic Winner show with Ella. This time Ella wasn't exactly w´hat the judge Keke Kahn was looking for and she was second in open class with first prize but without the CQ. But thanks to Sari, Ann and Johanna for a hilarious company on the trip!

Ella took part in the Finnish Winner show in Rainer Vuorinen's ring with 26 other Pharaohs and 16 other bitches. Eight bitches were given the prize of "excellent" and Ella was one of these winning the open class.
We had again the joy to have Maria Westman as a house guest for the weekend and her bitch Hallam Farao Anubis Elodie Ramzi was BOB and BIG2 and male Farao Anubis Ikaros BOS - congratulations!

A long day behind us again! We drove to Jyväskylä show where judge Andrew Beare from Ireland had nine adult Pharaohs and one puppy in his ring. Ella was BB2 with her eleventh Finnish CC and a reserve CACIB that will become a real CACIB later on :) A fine day and a huge thanks to Sari once again for handling Ella so beautifully, as the critique reads: "The handler gets most out of it".

Ruu went to the Finnish Kennel Club's eye panel to receive her final evaluation of her eyes. To my joy the latter result was correct and the first vet had indeed made a mistake so her eyes are healthy!
So with great pride and awaiting we announce our first expected litter for the summer 2008: out of AM CH Farao Anubis Phoenix aka Fenix and FIN EST CH Northgate's Ray of Sunshine aka Ruu.

I travelled to Stockholm yesterday to get our new family member and our first male Pharaoh hound home: AM CH Farao Anubis Fenix aka Fenix. Fenix seems to be a very nice new friend and our girls welcomed him with open arms (and lots of kisses) :)
