This is how Bertta's owner Johanna describes her:
Bertta moved to our family in Rovaniemi in March 2009. We had been looking for company to our other dog for a long time and Pharaoh hounds seemed like a good alternative after reading about their character descriptions. So I looked for a breeder on the internet and I found a sweet little girl at kennel Pareesa, last of her litter. After a big thinking session I jumped on a train the very night to get her home. The long train journey home with the small and brave puppy went unbelievably well! She showed no uncontentness but she was curious and wondered where we were going and what was going on.
Bertta is now six months old and she is still frisky, curious and expressionate, a very happy young dog. She is always happy and interested in exploring new things. One of her favourite things is hunting butterflies!
She can be mischeavous, one of her favourite teases comes out during dinner time and it's played on our other dog: when she eats her own food really slow and pokes the food bowl so that the kibble flies out from it, it's fun to look at the other catching them with a drool tip on the side..
All in all she is showing the early signs of a true couch potato :)
Bertta gets along excellently with other dogs. It's specially fun to wrestle and run around the yard with my father's Finnish hound. Bertta also has two big boy friends that are still a bit scary due to their size. So when they come within a half a meter of her she starts squeeking "Eek, eek! It hurts! I'm just a small baby!" And when the boys leave Bertta starts to follow them and tease them..
We decided to start following lure coursing training, Bertta seems to have the willingness to run and the instinct to chase everything that moves fast.. We are also planning to enter a few shows. |
